Robert Lumley
Robert Lumley has been a disruptive force in the insurance sector since 1984. He sits on the board of many insurtechs and has been pivotal in helping companies like By Miles, FloodFlash, Bondaval and many more get to market. Robert is Insurtech Gateway’s insurance guru and our bridge between incumbents and entrepreneurs from outside the industry.
Stephen Brittain
Stephen is an experienced innovation consultant with a deep understanding of startups, design, strategic innovation and translating this to investors. As Hambro Perks first Creative Director, he supported their growing portfolio (including Sipsmiths, Laundrapp, Takumi, TheDots) through early stage development and testing. Stephen is now focused on supporting Insurtech Gateway’s founders tackling complex climate and social challenges.
Richard Chattock
Richard has 30 years insurance and reinsurance experience in London, Brussels and Bermuda. After serving as CEO for the Montpelier Syndicate, he has now turned his attention to the next generation of insurance businesses. With an extensive network and deep industry knowledge, Richard is able to support Insurtech Gateway’s founders build new products in uncharted territories.
Hannah Leonard
Hannah leads Insurtech Gateway’s Marketing and Communications. Her persuasive skills have founders braving cold lakes, wild oceans, precarious heights and underground tunnels in the pursuit of the perfect founder photo. Previously, Hannah worked at Insurance Post and Insurance Age Magazine, producing content for insurtech conferences and building a digital insurance community. She is also our resident yoga teacher!
Maria Čoko
Maria supports Insurtech Gateway’s portfolio founders through their incubation, helping them hit key investment and insurance metrics at each stage of their journey. She also handles various Gateway operational aspects. Previously, Maria spent four years in the insurance team at Oliver Wyman, focusing on the strategic initiatives and supporting insurtech product launches.
David Preiskel
David manages everything legal-related at the Insurtech Gateway. He regularly liaises with limited partners of the Insurtech Gateway Fund and works with portfolio companies on their investment rounds. Previously, David has worked in private practice at Magic Circle and US law firms.
Dom Nolan
Dom joined the Insurtech Gateway’s team in 2022 to lead the origination and investment processes. Prior to this, Dom worked at Outward VC for nearly 4 years investing in early stage fintech opportunities from Seed to Series B. As a national standard 5km and 10km runner, his athletic discipline informs his methodical and results-driven approach.
Simon O’Dell
Simon spent 10 years as an insurance intermediary technician, and the past 8 years breaking down barriers to unlock the insurance market to insurtech founders. Simon is a start-up founder, an MBA and Y-Combinator graduate, co-founder of the not-for-profit Insurtech Australia and now Insurtech Gateway Australia.
Nick Proud
Nick has over 15 years financial services experience, working in corporate finance, M&A as well as a number of strategy and product roles. Previously, Nick founded a startup and achieved a Masters in Applied Finance. He sources the most exciting startups for Insurtech Gateway Australia to invest in and incubate, and works with the founders through the incubation and growth phases.
Danica Bunch
Danica is an experienced Public Relations and Strategic Communications professional. She has held a range of leadership roles in both Government, private and commercial sectors managing public affairs, advocacy and advising on government relations. Her strong skills in communication, building networks and strategy is a proven asset to both Insurtech Gateway Australia and our portfolio companies.
